    Howdy,
You just reminded me that there are two very open and long “a” vowel sounds!
I always think of one very open and long like in “cat” = /æ/. But then again there is another one very open (and longer than in BE), like in “stop”, and “cow” = /a/, /aw/.
    Thank you

    Hello Eva!
Love your content. I have used it on my Canvas shell in a distance ed course. My instructor said the video (Vowel Sounds and Transcriptions) is not accurately close captioned and that I should ask if yo could do that. Is that possible so it will meet accessibility standards?
    Thanks!
    Karen

      Karen,

      Good idea. Thanks for writing.

Checked the video and found it had Spanish auto-generated subtitles…that was a surprise.

      Thanks.

Fixed! YouTube automatically generates captions/subtitles. When it gets the language correct, the captions are ~moderately~ useful, yet often have subtle errors.

Sometimes YouTube ignores the language setting we provide and generates captions in another language, Spanish in this case. (Dutch and French for a couple of others.)

I have put correct English captions on this video and am auditing others.

      Hi Karen,

How did you import this exercise on your Canvas shell? I am interested in learning how to do that.

Could you share your link with us?

    Hello!

There is no video lesson, related to Vowel sound and Transcription in this lesson. Instead of this, there is video about Irregular verbs. Please check.

    Best wishes,

    Sandra,

You’re right. Learning the sound takes time and practice.

    Enjoy.

Thank you so much. It’s beneficial for me as a learner of American English. Before watching your channel on YouTube, I had a lot of difficulties with linking and reduction.
