Poor written T…changing all the time.
This week we’re practicing #1.
The small /ʰ/ that we see in the symbol for a real t shows that we blow air out of our mouth: /tʰ/
And now, let’s find out where we say /tʰ/.
1. at the beginning of a word:
today, tonight, tomorrow, talk, teach
2. at the beginning of a stressed syllable:
For numbers 13-19 and verbs ending in -tain, here are 2 practice videos.
3. at beginning of an unstressed syllable, when we have consonant + t
in–terested (for Wonder Word, click here)
Notice the different symbols:
real t = /tʰ/
written th = /θ/…/ð/ (the thing /ðə-θɪŋ/)
Next: 2. stop t = /t|/
